    • AZGFD Office, 3500 Lake Mary Road
  • 0800:
    • Meet at the intersection of Chavez Pass and Melbourne Cell Center roads

We will be reading those transects east of the Chavez Pass road.

Bring a lunch and plenty of water. Wear warm clothes, sturdy shoes, and a hat.

Due to the uncertainty of the weather and the potential for wet soil conditions that will prohibit vehicular travel, cancellation and rescheduling of the monitoring is possible. Please contact Jackie Holm (AZ State Land Department) at 602-370-7623 or via email (JHolm@azland.gov) the day before the first scheduled monitoring date to confirm dates and times.

The Forage Resource Study Group was one of the first monitoring group formed in the early 1990s to study the impact and presence of antelope, elk, and other wildlife on the ranches. It’s changed a little bit since its inception, but the data is fairly consistent and is still used to promote a balance in managing for wildlife and livestock. It’d be great to have you out on one of the field days!
