Day On The Land - USGS RestoreNet First Year Results Field Day

  • Meteor Crater Rd Winslow, AZ, 86047 United States (map)

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) researchers and land managers are co-producing a network of restoration field trial sites on DOI and surrounding lands in the southwestern U.S. including sites on the Flying M Ranch and Bar-T-Bar Ranch. The network systematically tests restoration treatments across a broad range of landscape, soil, and climate conditions. Each site in the network is used to test suitable seed mixes and treatments that promote plant establishment and growth. The treatments include ground modifications (e.g. soil amendments, physical alterations, mulching), seeding vs. outplanting seedlings from a greenhouse, timing of planting, and herbicide treatments to suppress invasive species.

Molly McCormick, USGS Ecologist and RestoreNet Coordinator, and Katie Laushman, USGS Field Manager, will lead our Day on the Land (DOTL) tour of the field trial sites located on Flying M and Bar T Bar Ranches and discuss their first year findings and where the study is headed.

Please RSVP to info@diablotrust.org by June 15th if you plan to attend.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are trying to manage our tour groups to allow for social distancing. Should our RSVPs indicate more than our morning tours (9am to 1pm) can accommodate, we will have an afternoon tour as well - 1pm to 4pm.

In order to keep all attendees safe, we ask each DOTL participant to take the following safety measures.

  • If you feel sick, stay home.

  • We ask attendees to bring their own mask and wear it for the duration of the event.

  • Attendees must stay six feet apart for the duration of the event.

  • Everyone is responsible for their own transportation the entire time (i.e. to the ranches and each site). Only 1 person per vehicle unless they are family/same household or are otherwise following CDC safety protocols.

  • Attendees must bring their own hand sanitizer, water, and food.

  • Diablo Trust will provide a wash basin (jug with spigot) and soap for hand washing.

Other Day on the Land Details:
